The Bigfoot Leveling System is a hot topic among RVers, but what’s the big deal? This leveling system is supposed to be a quick and easy auto-leveling solution for almost every type of RV, including camper vans.

So how does it work? And is the Bigfoot Leveling System really worth it? Let’s learn more.

What Is the Bigfoot Leveling System?

The Bigfoot Leveling System is hydraulic landing gear and leveling systems for a variety of industries, including recreational vehicles. Bigfoot Leveling Systems have dual-action hydraulic jacks and four-point leveling (side-to-side and front-to-back) with 100 square inch footpads.

This leveling system also comes with a lifetime warranty on the jack and pump systems. In addition, no manual leveling is required with the Bigfoot Leveling System. It truly is a one-and-done experience: simply push a button and you’re ready for camping. What once took several minutes can be done at the push of a button with the Bigfoot Leveling System.

How to Program or Reprogram the Bigfoot Leveling System

When you first use your Bigfoot Leveling System, you have to program it to tell it what “level” is. To do this, you turn the panel on and wait until it’s fully powered up. Once the lights stop flashing, press the “FRONT” button five times. Then press the “REAR” button five times.

Once you do this, all the lights on the panel should start flashing. This is what’s known as “zero mode”. In this mode, you can operate each corner or pair of levelers individually. To avoid flexing or twisting your RV’s frame, it’s important to note that you should try to always operate the jacks in pairs.

Level your RV manually by pressing the corresponding jack buttons. Once your RV is level, you can store the leveling data into the Bigfoot Leveling System by pressing the “RETRACT” button three times. Once the lights stop flashing, you can turn the unit off. It is now programmed.

Once your Bigfoot Leveling system is programmed, you simply need to turn it on and press “auto” when you set up at a new campsite.

What Types of RVs Can You Use This System On?

You can install a Bigfoot Leveling System on almost every type of large RV. Bigfoot Leveling Systems work with Mercedes Sprinter Class B RVs and campervans, Ford Class C RVs, Chevy Class C RVs, Class A motorhomes, travel trailers, 5th wheels, and gooseneck RVs.

If you don’t feel capable of completing the work yourself, Bigfoot offers installations at their headquarters in White Pigeon, Michigan. Installations start as low as $800 and you are able to sleep in their parking lot the night before your install.

Additionally, RVs that aren’t compatible with the Bigfoot Leveling System include teardrop trailers, pop up campers, and other small campers that don’t need a large system.

How to Level Your RV Using the Bigfoot System

The Bigfoot Leveling System is an automatic leveler - meaning you simply have to push a button, and the system levels your RV without any help from you. The system comes with a wall-mounted control panel with a power button, an auto-leveling button, a manual-leveling button, a retract and emergency retract button, and a button for each jack.

When you set up at a campsite, turn on the control panel. Once the lights stop flashing, press the “AUTO” button. Your Bigfoot Leveling System will auto-level your RV. Once the unit is level and the lights stop flashing, you can turn off the control panel and enjoy your campsite.

To make this process even easier, we recommend using RV SnapPads with your Bigfoot Leveling System. With RV SnapPads, the days of laying out leveling blocks and other leveling materials is over! RV SnapPads snap permanently onto the foot of your leveling jacks to protect your jacks, the ground beneath, and help evenly distribute weight while leveling your RV.

They even have a model specifically made to fit the Bigfoot Leveling System here.

Using RV SnapPads means the days of crawling under your RV to place jack pads are over, and you no longer have to retrieve them when packing up on travel day!
